How to manage it
Salt- and drought-tolerant pioneer shrub for coastal and alkaline ground; cut hard for fodder or mulch to keep it dense and productive.
Watch out for
Not a nitrogen fixer despite pioneer look. Naturalises readily on disturbed saline ground and can become weedy; leaves are salty so limit as sole livestock fodder.
