Large nut and timber tree; prune only in late summer or dormant winter, as it bleeds heavily if cut in spring.
Watch out for
Strongly allelopathic — roots, leaves and hulls release juglone that stunts or kills many crops, fruit trees and nightshades; also toxic to horses if nut hulls end up in bedding or pasture.
