How to manage it
Large, long-lived nut and timber tree; needs deep fertile soil and plenty of space. Prune only in late summer as it bleeds heavily if cut in spring.
Watch out for
Strongly allelopathic - roots and leaves release juglone, which inhibits many plants (tomato, apple, potato and others); do not underplant sensitive crops. Late spring frosts damage new growth and flowers.
